Home About Me

About Me

Lifelong St. Louisan. Huge fan of the St. Louis Blues and Cardinals. Enjoys progressive rock music, family history, craft beer, and good bourbon. Known to smoke the occasional cigar.

Well, I guess telling you a little bit about me would be good. Especially since you’ve taken time out of your busy schedule to visit my website.

My name is Bryan Koen. I am the father of four kids: Ethan, Spencer, Desmond, and Greta. I am married to a wonderful gal, Cara. We live in Florissant, MO, which is a northern suburb of St. Louis. Cara and I both grew not too far from where we currently live.

To pay the bills, I work in IT for a major health insurance provider. I’ve been in IT for most of my professional life. I enjoy technology and what I can do with it. It’s been a great career so far!

Outside of genealogy, I do have a few other hobbies to fill what little time I have when I am not on a sideline or theater for my kids. I really enjoy listening to music, progressive rock, in particular. I am also a huge fan of 80s music. You might also find me sipping a craft beer or sipping on bourbon while puffing on a stogie.

I created this site to share my thoughts on the pursuit of genealogy as well as some of my research while shaking the branches on my family tree. I’ve been doing genealogy off and on since I was about 10. It all started with a purchase from my grade school book fair.

Recently, I have been wanting to focus on righting the “past wrongs” in my approach to research. I am working to “clean” things up and creating a proper record of my ancestry. I’d like to think that at some point I would publish my research. So, if somewhat “scholarly” research bores you, you’ve been warned!

That being said, I am primarily focusing on the lineage of my eight great grandparents. So, you will like run into the following families here:

  • Koen
  • Landers
  • Maze
  • Schoenfeld
  • Jants/Jantsch
  • Olson
  • Ekey
  • Allen

As I prove connections in these lines, you should expect to see proof summaries and research reports.

If you have any questions or would like to know more please┬álet me know. I’ll do my best to respond quickly.

Thanks again for stopping by!
